Team Bayer Rides to Conquer Cancer in Calgary
Employees from Bayer Canada’s Calgary office and surrounding community came together this summer as ‘Team Bayer’ to complete the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer.
Bayer Canada is a company that cares about people and gives back to communities across the country. Through employee volunteerism and employee match programs, Bayer encourages its employees to get involved and give back to the community. One of the ways employees have given back is through the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer, a two-day cycling event, supporting Albertans facing cancer.
Employees from Bayer Canada’s Calgary office and surrounding community came together this summer as ‘Team Bayer’ to complete the Ride. Throughout the two-day journey, each rider cycled over 200 km and as a team, the 11 participants raised over $36,500!
The Ride benefits the Alberta Cancer Foundation, enabling the Foundation to make investments that diagnose cancer earlier, improve the effectiveness of cancer treatment, improve quality of life, and reduce the risk of developing cancer. This incredible work is taking place at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, Cross Cancer Institute, and 15 other centres across Alberta.
This was the first year that Team Bayer participated in the Ride and it is a tradition they hope to continue for years to come.
“We were all out there because we wanted to make a difference and give our support to those affected by cancer,” said Warren Bills, Team Captain. “Every day 43 Albertans hear the words ‘you have cancer’. The event itself is truly inspiring and was an incredible success. We can’t wait to do it again next year.”
The 2017 Ride to Conquer Cancer in Calgary was a huge success and Team Bayer can’t wait to get back on their wheels next year.
