Six Tips to Combat Colds & Flus

Six Tips to Combat Colds & Flus

A stuffy nose and cold weather go hand-in-hand, and this can dampen your day.

Cold and flu season is time to be extra vigilant in the fight against viruses.

While you might not be able to prevent yourself from getting sick in the first place, here are six things you can do to feel better:

1. Clean up your act

Keep anti-bacterial wipes and hand sanitizer within reach on sick days to avoid leaving germs on surfaces. The last thing you want to do is spread sickness to your friends and family members. You’ll feel better knowing you’re keeping your germs to yourself.

2. Put your sore throat on ice

Sucking on ice chips can help temporarily relieve a sore or scratchy throat by numbing and calming some of the inflammation causing your pain. Other ways to soothe a sore throat include gargling warm salt water or sipping on a warm herbal tea.

3. Clear your nose

A stuffy nose and cold weather go hand-in-hand, and this can dampen your day. Having a blocked nose can be one of the worst parts about being sick. Try a saline spray like hydraSense® Medium Stream. hydraSense is made from 100 percent naturally-sourced seawater and helps to flush out excess mucus to relieve nasal congestion. You may use alongside your other cough and cold medications.

4. Hydrate

You may be great at staying on top of your water intake during the summer because of the heat, but it is just as important to stay hydrated during the winter. Don’t forget to carry around a water bottle and drink regularly throughout the day. If plain water doesn’t excite you, try adding a dose of vitamin C plus Zinc orange to your water with Redoxon® Double Action orange effervescent tablets*. Just one quick dissolve tablet gives you delicious orange taste with Vitamin C + Zinc, helping your overall immunity.

5. Get your rest

Less sunlight and the cold weather can often make you feel tired, so getting a good night’s sleep to restore your energy is especially important during this time of year. Try your best to stick to a regular sleep schedule. If you have a hard time getting to sleep, try a relaxing nighttime routine, such as reading a book or gentle stretches.

6. Support your immunity

Everyone is busy and it can be hard to make sure you are ticking all the nutrient boxes. To help immune function support try One-A-Day® Gummies Plus Immunity Support, which contain zinc and vitamin C to help maintain immune health in a great tasting gummy.

Always remember, if you have a cold or flu and your symptoms are severe, or you find they are getting worse instead of better, talk to your doctor or pharmacist about the best treatment for you.
